Widebody Ford Ranger MS-RT Is A Race-Inspired Truck For The Streets
Here’s an antidote to the plethora of off-road Ranger builds out there.
MS-RT has revealed its latest take on the Ford Ranger, following its successful recreation of the previous-generation midsize truck in 2021. Based on the latest version of the Ranger launched last year in the US, the new Ranger MS-RT sports a widebody configuration coupled with other sport-inspired goodies.
Outside, the UK-based engineering company gives the Ranger a widebody treatment (3.2 inches wider than a standard Ranger), with fenders that aren’t plastic for a street-oriented look. The grille has been updated with “gradient” honeycomb styling, while the restyled front and rear bumpers and sculpted side skirts complement the wide stance. Adding to the motorsport-inspired design are the cab spoiler, diffuser, and ducktail spoiler at the back.
To cap off the sporty look, the Ranger MS-RT has black-painted mirror caps and door handles, deployable power side steps, and 21-inch Anthracite diamond-cut alloy wheels wrapped in low-profile Continental rubbers. Interested customers will have plenty of colors to choose from: Conquer Grey, Frozen White, Metallic Moondust Silver, Metallic Carbonised Grey, and Metallic Agate Black. An MS-RT Blue hue will also be available from April onward.
The Ranger MS-RT has a hand-crafted eco-leather and suede interior, complemented by sports seat bolsters with blue contrast stitching. There’s also a sports tiller with a blue marking at the 12 o’clock position, mimicking the steering wheel on the Ranger Raptor. These are combined with standard Ranger features such as a heated steering wheel, dual-zone electronic climate control, 12-inch touchscreen infotainment with Sync 4A, and Ford Co-Pilot 360 Assist.
Unlike the US-spec Ranger Raptor with a 405-horsepower gasoline V6, the Ranger MS-RT has a 3.0-liter EcoBlue V6 turbodiesel mill that makes 237 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. Despite the street-focused build, it retains its mettle as a hauler, specifically its 7,716-lb max towing and 2,205-lb payload capacities.
Apart from the specifications mentioned, MS-RT also offers factory-fit options like rally-inspired decals and a full eco-leather seat upgrade. A 40mm lowering suspension is also in the cards, though that will be available later this year in September.
MS-RT didn’t disclose the pricing for the latest Ranger MS-RT, but it will be available in Ford Pro dealerships in Europe alongside a new Transit MS-RT, which gets similar sporty equipment to the van’s latest version not available in the US.
