Vintage Ford Truck With A Chevrolet Chassis Is An Insane Build
This is why crosstown rivals shouldn’t be in bed with each other.
A unique vintage Ford truck has popped up for sale on Bring a Trailer, and it looks almost like a military truck ready for civilian duty. However, the rugged Ford truck is hiding a big secret, as it’s sitting atop a platform from its crosstown rival – Chevrolet.
The custom pickup has the body of a 1960 Ford F600 – a medium-duty truck bigger than the predecessors of the Ford Super Duty – using a 1979 Chevy K10 chassis. What’s even crazier is that its bed is from another Ford, a 1959 truck, though the exact model was not disclosed. To top things off, the vehicle is painted in Toyota Army Green, resulting in an insane but clean truck concoction that’s hard to ignore.
Apart from the unexpected collaboration, the modified truck has a custom-fabricated front bumper with an X-Bull electric winch and a roller fairlead. The utility doesn’t stop there, as the rear has a hitch receiver and mudflaps, while the bed has a UWS headache rack and toolbox. Completing the exterior are roof marker lamps, dual radio antennas, and custom side steps.
The truck sits on a 3-inch suspension lift flanked by black 18-inch Ultra Motorsports wheels wrapped in Toyo Open Country M/T tires for its towering stance.
Meanwhile, the interior retains its classic yet rugged charm, with green vinyl-wrapped foldable bench seats. In-cabin entertainment comes from a TRR AM/FM/CD stereo and Uniden CB radio, while other amenities include a cabin heater and roll-up windows. The instrument cluster shows a 100-mph speedometer resting on an ivory panel behind a vintage chrome three-spoke tiller.
Under the hood resides a big-block, 454 cubic inch V8 from a 1981 Chevrolet RV, connected to four-into-one headers and a dual-exhaust system, though power figures weren’t disclosed. In stock form, this mill should make 450 horsepower and 500 lb-ft from the factory when equipped with a Holley carburetor, which is the case in this build. A four-speed manual gearbox sends the power to the wheels, working with an NP205 dual-range transfer case.
The truck isn’t flawless, though. Apart from a few dings and scratches, the parking brake isn’t working, and the rim of the chrome steering wheel is cracked. The actual mileage is also unknown, though the odometer reads 90,000 miles.
If you fancy this bonkers Fordolet/Chevord truck, the listing will be up for over a week with no reserve. The current bid is at $9,200.
