Supercharged Ford Mustang GT Sends Over 800 HP To The Wheels
The 800-horsepower supercharger kit made its debuted at the 2023 SEMA Show.
At the 2023 SEMA Show, Ford Performance showcased a Whipple supercharger kit for the Mustang GT capable of generating as much as a claimed 800 horsepower. While we wait for its availability, Lethal Performance did a similar build featuring a Whipple supercharger as well, and the team successfully breached the 800 hp mark.
To be more specific, the supercharged Ford Mustang based on the S650 generation produced 807 hp and 635 lb-ft of torque to the wheels while running on fourth gear, 93 octane pump gas with an octane booster, and a 3.75-inch Griptec pulley that came along the kit. Power is sourced from a 5.0-liter Coyote V8, which comes as a naturally aspirated mill from the factory.
An 800 hp figure is in supercar territory, home to the Ferrari 296 and Lamborghini Aventador. Compared to stock figures, the Whipple supercharger build added 320 horses and 220 lb-ft twisting force. All that mighty power is sent exclusively to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox.
After running a few dyno tests, the setup switched to a 3.625-inch pulley, which increased the boost from about 12 lbs to 13 lbs. The graph showed the powertrain made peak figures of 833 hp and 661 lb-ft of torque, beating the highly limited Mustang GTD that boasts 800 horses.
Specs-wise, the pony car is equipped with custom headers, a Mcleod RXT clutch, an MGW X-Spec Shifter, a QA1 Rev Series carbon fiber driveshaft, a Corsa HH-pipe, and G-Force Outlaw axles.
For Ford Mustang GT owners looking to make this amount of power, the Ford Performance supercharger kit could be one of their tickets to 800 hp. The kit is underscored by a 3.0-liter sixth-gen Whipple supercharger coupled with an intercooler air-bypass system, an oversized heat exchanger, a high-flow intercooler pump, and a 92mm throttle body.
Ford Performance will offer the supercharger kit with a three-year or 36,000-mile warranty for added peace of mind. It will be available for both the manual and automatic variants.
