GMC Hummer EV And Chevy K10 Join Forza Horizon 5's Truck Fest

There’s a lot to look forward to in the “Explore the Horizon” series update.

The latest Forza Horizon 5 update has arrived and packs several exciting updates, new accolades, and six new vehicles for players to unlock and race with. “Explore The Horizon” is the 21st series update and focuses on off-roading, overlanding, and exploring the expansive, fictionalized map of Mexico.

Before we look at the new vehicles, let’s take a look at the other enhancements to hit the game. Photo Mode, for example, benefits from a serious overhaul. Players can choose between the time of day and weather settings and even adjust the wheel angle on the fly. Your avatar can also be positioned outside of the vehicle and can strike a variety of poses.

But you want to know about the cars, which have a heavy focus on trucks, but also a few other cars of interest.

As part of the latest update, FH5 players receive these sporty Spaniards at no cost. The Formentor VZ5 (pictured below left), is powered by a 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine, borrowed from Audi, and produces a healthy 385 horsepower. 0 to 62 mph comes up in 4.2 seconds, while the top speed is limited to 155 mph.

This iconic engine also does duty in the RS3 and TT RS, already available in Horizon 5. The Formentor VZ5 joins the UrbanRebel concept, which was added late last year. Cupra fans can also look forward to the Tavascan Concept. While not as exciting as the Formentor VZ5, the Tavascan is the latest electric vehicle to be added to the game.

A rather cool in-game feature is the ability to swap the battery and electric motor for more power and a unique sound. Cupra recently revealed the production-ready version of the Tavascan.

The first of the unlockable vehicles is the ’19 DeBerti Super Duty F-250 ‘Transformer.’ Available since May 25, this rugged truck boasts a 6.7-liter diesel engine with 850 hp. It’s a beastly-looking thing, with chunky 37-inch tires, lifted suspension, and several other off-roading enhancements.

DeBerti’s ‘Transformer’ is one of several pickup trucks and off-roaders that receive special overlanding modifications. This includes the Mercedes X-Class, the 2019 Ford Ranger Raptor, and the ’97 Land Rover Defender 90. Other DeBerti vehicles available in the game include the F-150 PreRunner, Wrangler Unlimited, and the Silverado-based Drift Truck.

Available from June 1, the ’86 Ford F-150 will be a hit with players. Aside from the ’56 F100, this is the first classic truck from the Blue Oval to be added to FH5. The newcomer is powered by a 185-hp 5.0-liter V8, which can be enhanced by visiting the upgrade shop.

Aside from the overlanding accessories, it will be interesting to see which performance mods and engine swaps will be offered for this classic F-150.

If you’re not impressed by anything with a Ford badge, the Chevrolet K-10 Custom will be right up your gravel-covered alley. In recent years, the C/K Series of Chevy trucks have become sought after by collectors, as it’s one of the best Chevy trucks of all time.

The “K” denotes four-wheel drive, which will come in handy in the fictionalized setting of Mexico. With the game’s muddy roads and expansive deserts, the K-10 Custom will be the ideal retro explorer. With just 175 horses under the hood, it’s even less powerful than the F-150 but can be upgraded to suit your needs.

The K-10 is one of just two Chevy pickups; the other is a 2016 Colorado ZR2. Hopefully, General Motors will add the latest Colorado to the game following the recent addition of two Cadillac Blackwing sedans.

The ’22 Hummer EV Pickup is, perhaps, one of the most highly anticipated vehicles to be added to the game in recent months. Players must wait until June 15 to experience the thrill of 1,000 virtual horses. In the meantime, the electric behemoth can be sampled in the monthly “Rivals” time attack event.

Within the game, the Hummer EV Pickup is set to “Terrain Mode” and can be equipped with various accessories, including a rooftop tent. Equipping this, however, will disable the ability to remove the modular sky panels.

Forza Horizon 5 isn’t the first video game the Hummer has appeared in after it made a surprise appearance in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II last year.
