Ford F-150 Raptor Generations: All Model Years | CarBuzz
The 12th-generation F-150 played host to the very first of the Ford F-150 Raptor generations, which went on sale as a 2010 model, two years after the P415’s introduction, and was still called the SVT Raptor back then. Optimized for high-speed off-road and desert driving, it came with a choice between two naturally aspirated V8s, an upgraded chassis, FOX suspension, and many specialized parts. For the 2013 model year, changes to the Ford F-150 Raptor included HID headlights, upgraded infotainment, and optional beadlock-capable wheels. The second of the Raptor generations was based on the aluminum-intensive 13th-gen P552 F-150 and went on sale as a 2017 model, two years after the P552’s launch. It now had twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 power and a 10-speed auto ’box, also gaining a monster Raptor R derivative for 2023 with a 700-hp supercharged V8. The Raptor lineage continued uninterrupted into the latest P702 F-150 with the same V6 powertrain; the Raptor R is uprated to 720 hp.
For the 2024 model year, the changes to the Ford F-150 Raptor echo the cosmetic tweaks applied to other F-150s, and the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 continues unchanged. The Raptor R gets a 20-hp power boost, taking it to 720 hp.

The redesigned P702 F-150 contained a Raptor trim from the start, inheriting its powertrain from the P552. For MY2023, the Raptor R explodes onto the scene with a 700-hp supercharged 5.2L V8.

After a hiatus of two years, a redesign of the Ford F-150 Raptor appeared as a 2017 model without the SVT prefix, and based on the latest P552 F-150 that came to market in 2014 as a 2015 model. Major upgrades included the same aluminum-intensive bodywork as other P552 F-150, as well as a new twin-turbocharged 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine with 450 hp and a new 10-speed automatic transmission co-developed with GM.

When the P415 F-150 was facelifted, the Raptor benefited from the same cosmetic and infotainment upgrades, while also gaining access to new beadlock-capable wheels, but the powertrain was left untouched.

In its original form as part of the 12th-gen P415 F-150, the first three (2010-2012) model years of the Ford F-150 Raptor initially came with a choice between a standard 5.4L naturally aspirated V8 in three-valve form from the Ford Modular V8 family, or a Boss 6.2L V8, both with a six-speed automatic transmission. The 5.4L was good for 320 hp and the 6.2L for 411 hp. The 5.4L was dropped the next year, with the Boss 6.2L becoming the standard engine.
