Ford F-150 Lightning Pricing Is Up And Down For 2024

There were several price hikes, but there’s a markdown as well.

The pricing of the Ford F-150 Lightning has been skyrocketing for several reasons since last year, and the fluctuations appear set to continue for 2024. For this year, Blue Oval company will once again increase the price of the 2024 model year by as much as $10,000, following a recent planned production cut to better meet market demands.

As per Automotive News, the entry-level F-150 Lightning Pro will be priced at $57,090, translating to a $5,000 bump. That is closing in on the $60,990 base price for the Tesla Cybertruck, making the Ford electric pickup truck lose its relatively affordable status. But who can blame the automaker, especially after finding out it is losing $36,000 on every EV sold?

Consumers looking to purchase the XLT Standard Range trim may be disappointed with its new price of $67,090, which is a whopping $10,000 bump. The trim’s Extended Range option and the Standard Range option in the Lariat trim will be discontinued. The F-150 Lightning Lariat Extended Range will get a $2,000 increase, pushing the MSRP to $81,950.

The new, more loaded XLT trim called F-150 Lightning Flash, originally offered for just under $70k, will start at $75,590.

On the bright side, Ford will be cutting down the pricing of the top-of-the-line Platinum trim. The 2024 F-150 Lightning Platinum will be priced at $87,090, benefitting from a $7,000 price reduction. The snazzier Platinum Black trim will get a $5,000 price cut, resulting in a $95,090 sticker price.

All the adjusted prices include the mandatory shipping fee of $2,095, which was also increased by $100.

Unlike the Ford E-Transit and Mustang Mach-E, the F-150 Lightning gets to keep the $7,500 federal tax credit amid new rules in the Inflation Reduction Act. Hopefully, this precious tax credit and the production cut to 1,600 units per week (from 3,200 units) will help the automaker boost sales and profitability.

“The F-150 Lightning is America’s best-selling electric pickup after a record fourth quarter, and demand continues to grow,” said a Ford spokesperson. “We are making adjustments to pricing, production, and trim packages to achieve the optimal mix of sales growth, profitability, and customer access to the IRA tax benefit.”
