1990 Ford Ranger Budget Baja Truck Up For Grabs
It comes with all the upgrades needed for high-speed off-roading.
A 1990 Ford Ranger has been converted into a Prerunner, a reconnaissance truck for the real deal. This scouting machine is currently up for grabs on Cars & Bids, and with six days to go, the bid has yet to reach $2,000.
The Ranger PreRunner has F-150 Raptor-style fiberglass front and rear body clips and a custom vinyl wrap to stand out. It also has standard Ford F-150 headlights and taillights to match the theme. A set of off-road lights, a custom front grille with an LED light bar, and a dual spare tire carrier mount complete its off-roader looks.
While it’s no Baja-winning Bronco Raptor and Ford F-150 Raptor R, it certainly looks the part.
The truck is equipped with reinforced front and rear chassis sections, a custom safety cage, a Camburg Engineering long-travel free-float suspension system, King shocks (20-inch travel front, 25-inch travel rear), a PSC Motorsport steering kit, and 15-inch beadlock wheels wrapped in 35-inch General Grabber tires.
It does have a little secret under the hood that some might frown upon. It’s powered by a Chevrolet LS1 6.0-liter V8 motor mated to a TH350 automatic transmission with a manual valve body and Florida Torque converter. No dyno figures have been provided for the pickup truck, but the LS makes around 300 to 340 hp as stock.
Aside from this, the truck also has an aftermarket intake system, a custom exhaust system, an aftermarket fuel cell, and an Art Carr shifter.
As for the interior of the Baja-ready pickup truck, it has a custom aluminum dashboard and center console, Autometer gauges, aftermarket seats, 5-point PRC harnesses, and an aftermarket steering wheel. The carpets and door cards for the Ford pickup have also been removed to save weight.
The Baja Ford Ranger has flaws, as a Carfax report shows it was issued a salvage title in California in June 1995. A rebuilt title then followed it in Nevada in 2012 and 2018. The pickup truck also has mileage inconsistency reported in April 2012 as it got a replaced odometer, hiding its actual mileage.
Aside from that, the Ranger has a few scratches, chips, and dents. It also has corrosion spots on the front grille, push bar, and spare tire carrier.
